The Study Visit to Izmir, Türkiye, hosted by K2 Contemporary Art Association takes place on May 7-8, 2026. In Izmir, partners and artists of the MATCH project will be informed about artistic, architectural, social and agricultural projects in the city related to climate-change, and meet their representatives. Through presentations by, gatherings with and site visits to creatives, cultural institutions, municipalities and NGOs, the participants will exchange learnings and ideas.

The Study Visit program will kick-off at K2 Urla Breathing Zone, one of the residencies of the MATCH project. The program includes visits to the olive oil museum, an urban garden, an arts collective, and an arts & design center. 

The two-day program will also allow the participants to get a glimpse of the rich culture of nature rooted in the city’s 8500-year history. Located on the westernmost end of the country, Izmir’s nature is a blend of turquoise Aegean coasts, rugged mountains, and lush landscapes. It features unique biodiversity, including marine life, birds, pine forests, hot springs, and serene plateaus. The city, characterized as Mediterranean, strives for adapting to climate change with initiatives by various stakeholders, in order to preserve its nature.
